Disney diamond art kits: the licensed ones, and how to spot the rest

Most 'Disney' diamond paintings online are unlicensed. Here are eight kits from brands that sell under the official names, what each one is, and the quick checks that separate them from lookalikes.

How we pick · Updated · We earn a commission when you buy through our Amazon links.

For a licensed Disney canvas, buy the RoseArt Disney Dreams Beauty and the Beast kit, a 20 x 16 inch Thomas Kinkade scene and the most-reviewed named Disney canvas we found. For a quick kids' project, Crystal Art's stand-up Disney figures take 20 to 30 minutes. Be wary of everything else: most kits that show up for "Disney diamond painting" use the characters without a license, and many dodge the name with words like "cartoon", "princess" or "castle".

How we picked these kits

On October 13, 2026 we ran Amazon searches for Disney and Harry Potter diamond painting kits, by character and by brand, and kept only kits from brands that sell under the official names: Diamond Dotz, Crystal Art (Craft Buddy's brand), RoseArt's Disney Dreams line, Camelot Dotz, and one Harry Potter kit whose listing says "Officially Licensed Merchandise". We checked each brand's licensing against outside sources (a 2020 Toy World report on Craft Buddy's Disney deal, Diamond Art Club's trade-show listing) and read each listing for size and contents.

One honest caveat: licensed kits sell in tiny numbers on Amazon next to the knockoffs. None of the kits below showed a "bought in the past month" figure, and several have under 50 ratings. We'd still pick them over a 3,000-rating lookalike, because a license means someone at the brand approved the artwork.

This is a "How we pick" guide. We compared listings and brand sources; we didn't paint these kits ourselves. How we research.

How to spot a licensed kit

CheckLicensed kitLikely lookalike
BrandDiamond Dotz, Crystal Art, Diamond Art Club, RoseArt, Camelot DotzA string of capital letters (e.g. "CFZLSJ") or no brand
TitleNames the film and character outright"Cartoon", "princess", "castle", "magic", or a misspelling of the studio
Packaging photoA printed box with license marks and the brand logoOnly a mock-up of the finished canvas on a wall
SellerThe brand or a major retailerA marketplace seller with dozens of unrelated kits
Sales on AmazonUsually low, often under 100 ratingsOften high and cheap
Three checks before you buy a character kit Three steps in a row: check the brand is one that holds licenses, check that the box photo shows license marks, then check who sells it. Passing all three means the kit is very likely official. 1. Branda known licensee? 2. Box photolicense marks shown? 3. Sellerbrand or big retailer? Fail any one and treat the kit as unlicensed
A ten-second check. If the listing only shows a finished canvas on a wall and the brand is a jumble of letters, it's almost certainly a lookalike.

Why care? Unlicensed kits copy studio art without permission, and the artwork is often traced from film stills at low resolution, so faces come out muddy. A licensed kit has approved artwork drawn for the format.

Who actually holds the licenses

Crystal Art (Craft Buddy). Toy World reported in November 2020 that Craft Buddy was launching a Crystal Art range made with Disney, starting with 30x30 cm canvases (Elsa, Anna and Olaf; Pooh and Tigger; Mickey and Minnie) and larger medleys. Today Crystal Art also sells small stand-up "Buddy" figures and Harry Potter sticker albums.

Diamond Dotz sells Disney kits under its own name; Kohl's lists Diamond Dotz Disney designs from Mickey to Encanto, and a Diamond Dotz search on Hobby Lobby's site turns up licensed Hello Kitty and Peanuts kits. Diamond Art Club names Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount among its partners in its trade-show listing, and its Sparkle Pals mini kits (Stitch, Mickey, Minnie) are sold as officially licensed. RoseArt, a Cra-Z-Art brand, sells Disney Dreams kits based on Thomas Kinkade Studios paintings.

What about Pokemon?

We couldn't find a licensed Pokemon diamond painting kit. Amazon showed one Pokemon-titled kit, with 18 ratings and no license statement, plus a run of unbranded "anime" and "game" kits. Until a known brand releases one, treat Pokemon kits as unlicensed. Our anime diamond painting guide covers original anime-style designs that don't borrow anyone's characters.

Finding licensed kits in stores

Licensed kits turn up more reliably in stores than on Amazon. On October 13, 2026, Hobby Lobby's site listed Hello Kitty and Care Bears kits, Five Below listed a "Licensed Diamond Art Kit", and Kohl's carried several Diamond Dotz Disney designs. Stock varies by store, so check in store before you drive over. Our store-by-store guide has the details, and if the brand matters to you, Crystal Art vs diamond painting explains how Craft Buddy's kits differ.

Our pick

For an adult Disney fan, the Disney Dreams Beauty and the Beast canvas. For a child, a Crystal Art figure of their favorite character, which they'll finish before dinner. For a Potter fan, the Hogwarts Castle kit. Shopping for a holiday? Our Christmas kits and kids' kits have more ideas.

Questions people ask

Are Disney diamond painting kits licensed?
Some are, most aren't. Kits from Diamond Dotz, Crystal Art (Craft Buddy), Diamond Art Club and RoseArt's Disney Dreams line carry the official names. The cheap 'cartoon', 'princess' and 'castle' kits that fill Amazon searches usually come from marketplace sellers with no license.
Where can I buy official Disney diamond art?
Amazon has Diamond Dotz, Crystal Art and RoseArt Disney kits, though few at a time. Kohl's lists several Diamond Dotz Disney kits, Diamond Art Club sells Disney kits on its own site, and Hobby Lobby and Five Below carry some licensed character kits. Stock varies, so check in store.
Does Diamond Art Club have Disney kits?
Yes. Diamond Art Club lists Disney among its licensing partners, and retailers sell its Sparkle Pals mini kits of Stitch, Mickey and Minnie described as officially licensed. Its main range is on its own website.
What is Crystal Art?
Crystal Art is Craft Buddy's diamond painting brand. Craft Buddy announced a licensed Disney range made with Disney in 2020, and it now sells Disney and Harry Potter canvases, stand-up 'Buddy' figures and sticker albums.
Are there Harry Potter diamond painting kits?
Yes. Crystal Art makes Harry Potter sticker albums and figures, Camelot Dotz makes house crest kits, and a CRAFTHUB Hogwarts Castle kit says 'Officially Licensed Merchandise' in its listing. There are plenty of unlicensed 'magic castle' kits too.
Are there official Pokemon diamond painting kits?
We couldn't confirm one. In our Amazon search on October 13, 2026, the only Pokemon-titled kit had 18 ratings and no license statement. Treat Pokemon kits as unlicensed unless the box carries the Pokemon license line.
