Diamond painting Christmas cards: 10 packs compared, with a mailing plan

Card packs differ in count, envelopes and size, and the size decides your postage. Here's how many to buy, how long a pack really takes, and how to get drills through the mail intact.

How we pick · Updated · We earn a commission when you buy through our Amazon links.

Buy a 12-pack with envelopes and start by mid-November. The ACSAUMMY 12-pack is the best seller (about 300 bought last month, 4.6 stars from 263 ratings), and the YOKUSHI 12-pack is the best-reviewed with a single snowman theme. Before you buy stamps, know that most diamond art cards are square, and USPS charges extra for square envelopes. The mailing section below explains.

How we picked these card packs

We searched Amazon for "diamond painting christmas cards" on October 3, 2026, read two pages, and set aside the ornament kits that crowd the results. That left the card packs. We favored packs with envelopes, a stated card count, and either a "bought in past month" badge or 60 or more ratings. Card counts and contents come from each listing.

This is a "How we pick" guide. We compared listings and ratings rather than making every card. How we research.

How many cards, and how long they take

A card front is small, but twelve of them add up. Using the formula from our diamond painting calculator on a 15 x 15 cm card front with 2.5 mm square drills:

How much of the front is drilledDrills per cardHours per card at 350/hr12-pack total
Edge to edge (rare)3,600About 10About 123 h
About half1,800About 5About 62 h
About 30% (a typical motif)1,080About 3About 37 h

Coverage is our assumption; look at the listing photos to judge how much of each design is drilled. Pace varies, so time yourself for ten minutes and adjust.

A typical 12-pack is about as much work as a full 12x16 inch canvas. So send diamond cards to the people who'll keep them, and buy printed cards for everyone else. A 6-pack is the realistic choice if you're starting in December.

Most card designs drill only the motif, which keeps each card to an evening.

Mailing diamond art cards: what the post office charges

This is the part most card kits leave out. The USPS Domestic Mail Manual (section 101, letter standards) classes a letter as nonmachinable if its length divided by its height is under 1.3, which every square envelope is, or if it's too rigid to bend or has items that make its thickness uneven. Nonmachinable letters pay a surcharge on top of the regular stamp. A letter also can't be more than a quarter inch thick; past that it's priced as a large envelope.

A drilled card in a square envelope hits the first rule for certain and may hit the others. So:

  1. Finish one card, put it in its envelope, and have the post office weigh and price it before you buy stamps for the rest.
  2. If cost matters, hand-deliver the cards to local recipients and mail only the far-away ones.
  3. Check the USPS holiday mailing dates for the year. They're published each fall, and your cards need to be finished and cured a few days before them.
A finished rhinestone card going into a square envelope with parchment over its front
A sheet of parchment over the drilled front keeps loose drills from rubbing off in the sorting machines.

Writing inside a drilled card works best before you start drilling. Pressing a pen into the card afterward can flex the front and loosen drills, and a pen can't sit flat with the raised front underneath it. Write the message first, let the ink dry, then drill.

Seal cards so drills survive the trip

Card stock flexes more than canvas, and flexing is what pops drills. Before mailing:

  • Press every drill down firmly; a small diamond painting roller does a card front in seconds.
  • Brush a thin coat of diamond painting sealer over the drilled area only, and let it cure as long as its label says before closing the envelope.
  • Slip a square of parchment or release paper over the front so the drills don't catch the envelope.

Our sealer guide covers which sealers dry clear and how long they take.

Questions people ask

How long does a diamond painting Christmas card take?
Usually a few hours. A 15 x 15 cm card front fully covered in square drills would be about 3,600 drills, but most card designs drill only part of the front. At around 30% coverage that's roughly 1,100 drills, or about three hours at 350 drills an hour.
Do diamond painting cards come with envelopes?
Most packs do, but not all. Every pack on this page lists matching envelopes; check the listing on others before you buy, because a 15 x 15 cm square card won't fit a standard greeting-card envelope.
How much does it cost to mail a diamond painting card?
More than a normal card. Square envelopes and rigid or lumpy letters count as nonmachinable under USPS rules, which adds a surcharge, and anything thicker than a quarter inch is priced as a large envelope. Take one finished card to the post office to check before you buy stamps for all of them.
Will the drills fall off diamond painting cards in the mail?
Some can, especially loose ones at the edges. Press every drill down, brush on a thin coat of diamond painting sealer, let it cure fully, and put a sheet of parchment over the front inside the envelope.
When should I start diamond painting Christmas cards?
By mid-November for a 12-pack. At about three hours a card, twelve cards is as much work as a 12x16 inch canvas, and you want them finished, sealed and cured before the USPS holiday mailing deadlines.
Can kids make diamond painting Christmas cards?
Yes, older kids can, and one of the packs here says it suits children 6 and up. The drills are small parts, so keep them away from children under 3.
