Three meanings of "fits 30x40"
A 30 x 40 cm canvas is about 11.8 x 15.7 inches, and its painted area is smaller because of the blank border. Listings use "fits 30x40" for three different setups:

Frame openings are also usually about half an inch smaller than the frame size so the edges are held, as the Fxojyvo and JCJMY listings both note. Measure where the drills stop, not the canvas edge.
Why a mat matters for drills
Most frames here use plastic plexiglass rather than glass (the JCJMY listings say so to avoid breakage). Either is fine as long as it isn't pressing on the drills. Frameless options
Stretcher bars wrap the canvas around a wooden frame like a gallery canvas. The YOKSAS stretcher bars are sized for a 25 x 35 cm painted area on a 30 x 40 cm canvas and use pre-applied double-sided tape, but at 3.8 stars from 180 ratings they're the weakest-rated product we looked at, so measure carefully. Before you order a frame
- Finish and roll the painting first. Drills that pop off later are harder to fix behind plexi.
- Measure the painted area, not the canvas, in both directions.
- Search the listing for "cut" and "inner size". If either appears, the frame expects a trimmed canvas.
- Want the legend hidden without cutting? Buy a mat frame one size up.
- Hanging somewhere dusty, like a kitchen? A cover helps, with a mat to keep it off the drills.
- Framing several at once? Matching sets are cheaper per frame and look intentional on a wall.
