Get the Switch or Xbox version if you want Diamond Painting ASMR: as of October 13, 2026, $4.99 buys the game outright, and the content packs are $2.99 each. The PS4 version is free to download but runs on tickets, and its paid editions are mostly ticket bundles costing up to $39.99. That model probably explains why it averages 3.23 out of 5 from 1,403 PlayStation ratings. Nobody has published a critic review of any version, so this one is built from the official store pages.

How we reviewed it

We didn't play every version. On October 13, 2026 we read the game's pages on each console store and the Apple App Store, checked Deku Deals for edition contents, and looked for critic reviews at Time Extension, Push Square and Pure Xbox. There were none; Time Extension's game page says "no Diamond Painting ASMR review yet". Prices below are US store prices as of October 13, 2026, from the PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop, Microsoft Store and App Store listings.

This is a "How we pick" spec and feature review based on official store listings. We didn't test the game hands-on. How we research.

What the game is

Diamond Painting ASMR is a color-by-number game that imitates diamond painting. You pick a canvas (the store pages mention unicorns and cakes), choose a numbered color, and tap or press to place "diamonds" until the picture fills in, with ASMR-style sound on each placement. Some canvases are 3D objects, like a dinosaur or a diamond castle, and you can choose canvas sizes. CrazyLabs made the original mobile game in 2020; QubicGames publishes the console versions.

The picture counts are the confusing part. The base Switch and Xbox games list almost 400; Nintendo's Cute Edition, which adds one DLC pack, lists almost 700; and the PS4 page and the Complete Edition (base plus both packs) say over 900. So the 900 figure assumes you own, or unlock, everything.

The PS4 version and its tickets

On PlayStation the game is free, and progress runs on tickets. The PlayStation Store listed these editions as of October 13, 2026:

PS4 editionPriceWhat's in it
StandardFreeThe game
Art Bundle$9.99Game, Coloring Book, 100 tickets, Family & Home DLC
Starter$14.99Game, 525 tickets
Premium$24.99Game, 1,050 tickets
Deluxe$39.99Game, 2,100 tickets

Ticket packs alone run from 10 for $0.99 to 1,000 for $24.99. What the store page doesn't say is how many tickets a picture costs, which is the number you'd need to compare against the $4.99 Switch game. Our reading: start with the free Standard Edition, see how quickly tickets run out, and only then decide whether a bundle is worth it. If you own a Switch or an Xbox as well as a PlayStation, buy it there instead.

Two smaller PS4 notes. The page says the game is playable on PS5 but "some features available on PS4 may be absent", and the only screen language listed is English.

Switch and Xbox

Both are straightforward purchases at $4.99 as of October 13, 2026 (see the Nintendo eShop and Microsoft Store pages). On Switch the game is 178 MB, works docked or handheld, and supports the touch screen, which suits a tap-to-place game. The two DLC packs, Fun & Cute and Cool & Festive, are $2.99 each. The Xbox version covers Xbox One, Series X|S and PC and is cloud playable on Game Pass tiers once you own it; the store notes in-app purchases there too.

Phones and tablets

The original, Diamond Painting ASMR Coloring by CrazyLabs, is the best-rated version by a distance: 4.6 out of 5 from about 56,000 App Store ratings. It's free with ads. Subscriptions ($4.99 a week, $9.99 a month or $49.99 a year as of October 13, 2026, per the App Store listing) unlock every picture and remove ads. A weekly plan left running costs far more than any console version, so if you subscribe, set a reminder.

For parents

The console versions carry an ESRB Everyone 10+ rating for alcohol reference and crude humor, and the PS4 and Xbox versions list optional purchases. The App Store rates the mobile game 13+ and notes ads and user-generated content. For a younger child, the $4.99 Switch version with no ticket store is the simplest choice.

The game vs real diamond painting

The game borrows the rhythm. The real thing gives you something to hang on the wall.

If the game hooks you, the real hobby is the next step. A basic full drill kit like this glowing dream forest kit (about 5,000 bought last month) or this sunset cow kit (4.8 stars from 2,174 ratings) costs little more than a DLC pack. Our beginner tips cover the first evening, and beginner kits lists better picks. For anyone whose hands or eyes make tiny drills hard, the game is a fair alternative; our diamond art for seniors guide also covers kits with bigger color areas and easier tools like a light pad and a thicker pen.

Who should play it

  • Switch owners who want a calm, touch-screen color-by-number game: buy it at $4.99.
  • PlayStation-only players: try the free Standard Edition and hold off on bundles until you know how tickets go.
  • Phone players: the free mobile game is the best rated, but watch the weekly subscription.
  • Diamond painters looking for a gift for a gamer: it's an easy, cheap add-on; see gifts for diamond painters for more.
